Reporting to the Business Development Manager, CFS’s Fundraising Coordinator is passionate about working to make a difference in their community. This role supports the development and implementation of the agency’s fundraising strategies and campaigns. This revenue allows CFS to fill gaps in service, provide subsidized services for those in our community who wouldn’t be able to access mental health and wellbeing supports otherwise, and drive sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic and creative individual with strong interpersonal skills. They enjoy meeting diverse individuals and groups to spread awareness and invite engagement in CFS programs and activities. This person will be a self-starter who is adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in dynamic environments.
While the hours for this position are primarily 9-5, Monday-Friday, occasional evenings and weekend hours may be required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Relationship Building
- Develop prospect lists and build new relationships with community members, the business community, community groups and potential event participants
- Help build and train volunteer committees to support events and fundraising programs
- Steward relationships with existing donors and sponsors
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
- Help research, develop and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns
- Steward relationships with existing donors and sponsors
- Assist with fundraising events, grant applications, and other revenue-generating programs
- Encourage fundraising engagement among staff, board and volunteer teams
- Track and help qualify prospects, managing timely and strategic engagement
- Enter data accurately into the CRM
Event Support
- Help research, develop and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns
- Collaborate with internal teams and external interested parties to coordinate and support logistics, marketing and participant experience
- Monitor event KPI and implement improvements to maximize ROI
Administration Duties
- Name and organize working files and finished documentation according to CFS conventions
- Run reports and analyze results
- Research CRM systems for possible upgrading
- Prepare and deliver mailers, in association with the marketing/communications team
- Attend team meetings
- Seek appropriate approvals, when required
- Maintain and comply with tactical schedules and budgets
Qualifications
Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements:
- Between 15–30 years of age at the start of employment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
Additional Qualifications:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in a fundraising, marketing, communications, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1 year of sales, marketing or fundraising experience
- Non-profit experience considered an asset
- Excellent writing/editing skills – experience adapting content for a variety of formats, channels and goals
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Reliability and punctuality
- Highly organized, with excellent time-management skills
- Creative problem solver – able to think analytically and strategically
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work independently
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Attention to detail, with the ability to keep the big picture in mind
- Competency with MS Office programs an asset
- Driver’s licence and access to a reliable car is an asset
- Language(s) in addition to English considered an asset
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check
- Knowledge of/proficiency in/aptitude & interest to learn the following are an asset: MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud/Affinity, WordPress, Hootsuite, Canva Facebook, X/Blue Sky, Instagram and LinkedIn
