G&K Electric Inc. is in search of an Electrical Journeyman. The successful candidate will be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an electrical aptitude who takes great pride in their work. They will perform service work on electrical systems in commercial and residential environments. They will maintain excellent rapport and nurture long term value-based relationships with new and existing customers. With their technical expertise, they will play a definite key role in enhancing our company image and reputation.

Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine layouts for new or existing installations

Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors

Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
-
Installation of EMT conduits in various sizes

Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures, electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels

Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
-
Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement, or repair

Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components

Connect electrical power to audio and visual communications equipment, signaling devices and heating and cooling systems

Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.

Other duties as assigned

Completion of secondary school is required

Electrical Red Seal Trade Certification is required

Exposure to and thorough understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code is required

Service Experience is considered a definite asset

Ability to support 24-hour emergency service for our clients (flexible on-call rotating schedule)

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to conduct work while standing, bending, crawling, lifting, climbing, pulling, and reaching

Ability to conduct work in confined spaces, on ladders and/or aerial platforms

Must be comfortable working from heights

Ability to work well in a team environment

Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools

Must have starter tools (a list can be provided)

Must have a valid driver’s license and willing to provide driver’s abstract
