Wage: $18.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: 30-40 hours per week (based on operational requirements)
Shift & Schedule: Varying schedules including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and daytime shifts

POSITION SUMMARY
The Room Attendant / Public Area Cleaner is responsible for ensuring guest rooms and public areas are clean, sanitary, attractive, and well-maintained at all times. This role combines traditional room attendant duties with public area cleaning responsibilities to support a safe, welcoming, and exceptional guest experience.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work duties include but are not limited to the following:
Guest Room Cleaning
- Clean and service assigned guest rooms according to hotel standards.
- Make beds and replace linens, towels, and guest amenities.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, mirrors, and floors.
- Dust, vacuum, mop, and polish furniture, fixtures, and guest room surfaces.
- Restock guest supplies, including toiletries, coffee, cups, tissues, linens, and amenities.
- Inspect guest rooms to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for arrivals.
- Check guest room equipment, lights, remotes, and fixtures for proper operation.
- Remove garbage and recycling from guest rooms.
- Report maintenance deficiencies, damaged items, and safety concerns.
- Handle lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Provide guests with basic information regarding hotel services and amenities.

Public Area Cleaning
- Clean and maintain hotel public spaces, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, entrances, meeting rooms, and washrooms.
- Vacuum carpets and mop hard-surface flooring.
- Dust and sanitize furniture, fixtures, handrails, and high-touch surfaces.
- Clean glass surfaces, mirrors, windows, and doors.
- Empty waste and recycling containers and replace liners.
- Restock public area and washroom supplies.
- Respond promptly to spills and cleaning requests.
- Maintain cleanliness in employee and back-of-house areas as assigned.
- Follow hotel cleanliness, guest service, and brand standards at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Health & Safety
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately.
SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIRED
The successful candidate will possess some or all of the following characteristics:
- Completion of secondary school (High School) or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hotel housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or cleaning experience is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, products, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong guest service and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull equipment up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach overhead, and perform physically demanding cleaning tasks throughout a shift.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to Commute/Relocate:
- Fort McMurray, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
