Sequoia Support Services is seeking a highly experienced Contract Bookkeeper to assist with bringing our financial records fully up to date in QuickBooks. This is a project-based contract requiring an individual who can work independently, maintain exceptional accuracy, and confidently navigate complex accounting records.
This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position. We are looking for a seasoned professional with demonstrated experience supporting organizations with multiple funding streams and program budgets, ideally within the non-profit sector.
About the Project
The successful candidate will work closely with our leadership team to reconcile and update our QuickBooks records using existing program budgets, spending reports, and financial documentation. Accuracy, organization, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies are critical to the success of this project.
Responsibilities
Bring company QuickBooks records fully up to date.
Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Review and organize financial records across multiple programs.
Ensure transactions are accurately coded and allocated.
Work collaboratively with our executive team and external financial professionals.
Prepare clean, accurate records to support ongoing financial reporting.
Maintain strict confidentiality and professional standards throughout the engagement.
Required Qualifications
We are specifically seeking candidates who possess:
Extensive hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
Significant bookkeeping experience, preferably with organizations managing multiple programs or departments.
Previous experience working with non-profit organizations.
Experience collaborating directly with Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), Controllers, or external accounting firms.
Strong understanding of account reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with grant-funded or government-funded organizations.
Familiarity with program-based budgeting and financial tracking.
Accounting or bookkeeping certification (CPA designation not required but considered an asset).
