Northland School Division is currently seeking a full-time Family Wellness Worker to join our dedicated teams in Anzac, Janvier and Conklin. The hamlet of Anzac, approximately 50 kilometres south of Fort McMurray. Janvier, Alberta, approximately 120 kilometers from Fort McMurray. The hamlet of Conklin, the southernmost community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Conklin is a quiet, rural community situated on the scenic shores of Christina Lake, about 155 kilometers southeast of Fort McMurray, accessible via Alberta Highways 63 and 881.
The Family Wellness Worker will report to the Director of Inclusive Education and follow the school’s 10-month calendar. To learn more about what Northland School Division has to offer, please visit .
Major Responsibilities include:
- Provide intervention and/or support services to students and families who may be at risk or currently facing social, emotional, behavioral or family challenges
- Promote effective communication and parenting skills
- Build skills with the students individually and in small groups
- Assist in finding information and resources such as counseling after hour crisis response workers
- Advocate within the school and the community
- Promote preventative opportunities within the schools and community
- Collaborate with community agencies
Qualifications include:
- Degree in Social Work.
- Valid driver's license
The vision of the program is to provide free confidential intervention services to students and families in order to support their emotional, behavioral and social wellbeing. The salary for this position is based on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package is also provided.
