Position Highlights
PCM Lines Maintenance is seeking a strategic and experienced Work Program Manager to manage and execute on
programs approximately $30 million annually in Transmission Maintenance. Collaborating with internal and external
stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure sufficient management, engineering, and construction resource
capacities are available to deliver on increasing maintenance budgets. In addition to the base Work Program Manger
competencies, this position requires sound knowledge of BC Hydro Transmission Maintenance Practices, Processes,
Standards and Information Systems.
What you'll do
- Deliver programs within the established budget, scope and schedule while meeting quality and safety objectives.
- Act as a project manager for a portfolio of multiple projects with medium to high impact/complexity.
- Monitor, forecast, control, and report on monthly program progress. Including communicating program progress to all
relevant Stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategies to maximize efficiency and delivery of the programs current and future work including but
not limited to using new/unique technologies, processes, and products.
- Lead initiatives to improve process and procedures related to the delivery of work across the province.
- Work with Integrated Planning and Line Field Operations to develop the annual work plan.
- Work with our delivery partners in Engineering, Line Field Operations, Construction Services, Contract & Field
Management, Powertech Labs, Procurement, Environment, Indigenous Relations and Safety to successfully deliver the
program.
- Manage a variety of service and maintenance contracts across the province.
- Monitor programs spend against unit completions and implement change control as necessary.
- Effectively represent BC Hydro to external stakeholders and in working with contractors as our projects execute.
- Select and adjust the delivery and/or contracting model used within projects to ensure smooth delivery of work.
- Travel to site as and when needed to meet internal and external groups, and support design, permitting and field
coordination/ construction.
What you bring
- 5 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in a utility, engineering, or construction environment.
- Intermediate technical knowledge in a specific field (e.g., Engineering, Technical Trade, Business, or Sciences) with some
general knowledge of other fields.
- An Engineering degree or equivalent is considered an asset. A combination of education and relevant experience will be
considered.
- Strong grasp of project and program management principles, various delivery models and contracting strategies.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is considered
an asset.
- Ability to detect, manage, mitigate and report project risks.
- Ability to manage a demanding workload and evaluate priorities daily according to risks.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ability to speak to small and
large groups of people with confidence. The ability to lead difficult conversations to a negotiated outcome.
