SUMMARY OF POSITION
A member of the Finance department reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities for financial statement preparation, reporting and reconciliation duties while ensuring a high level of service to the public and other Corporation staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of 4 accounting team members including Senior/Intermediate Accountant, AP/AR Administrators
- Direct management of accounts payable processes and inherent internal controls
- Manage accounts payable processes to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner and that expenses are accurately recorded in the correct accounts/period
- Ensure expedited response to vendor inquiries, maintenance of strong supplier relations and resolution of any concerns
- Direct management of accounts receivable processes and inherent internal controls
- Ensure review and action for accounts receivable in arrears
- Ensure daily deposits of cheques are performed and that EFTs are applied in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure expedited response to customer inquiries related to accounts receivable status
- Develop and monitor proactive KPIs for accounts payable and accounts receivable with effective management of target delivery
- Effectively use Zendesk ticketing system to monitor performance
- Effectively use Sage Intacct software to drive efficiencies in team performance
- Prepare journal entries for allocation of indirect marketing expenses
- Prepare journal entries for allocation of enforcement costs
- Review and approve journal entries made by Senior Accountants
- Provide responses to queries raised during the monthly review of financial statements
- Provide training as needed for purchasing processes in Sage Intacct (creation and approval of purchase orders, receipt of services and product)
- Ensure Purchasing Policy is adhered to with follow-up reporting and corrective resolution
- Support Controller in the production of dashboards, financial statements, and client packages
- Reconcile various Balance Sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies on a monthly basis
- Provide timely, detailed and accurate financial data for different stakeholders
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures for all significant functions in department are maintained and current
- Develop cross training for all direct reports within Finance department
- Facilitate improvement to workflow, reporting and procedures within department to facilitate timely delivery of all client packages within targeted deadlines
- Participate in and deliver requests to support annual budgeting, interim and annual external audits
- Act as backup to Financial Analyst position during absences
- Perform accounting functions or deliver ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Controller

- Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilise various software, such as Workday Adaptive, Zendesk and Monday.com.
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent accredited university required.
- Experience of supervising direct reports
- Experience with Workday Adaptive and/or Sage Intacct is an asset
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Finance Manager position is service-driven and requires exceptional organizational and supervisory skills. Furthermore, it requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills with numerical aptitude and excellent knowledge of computer software applications, particularly Sage Intacct or similar, Microsoft Excel and Word.
