Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team for straight afternoon or night shifts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving a propane or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials
Responsibilities
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, barrels, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
- Ensure Product Identification is intact on all bins and skids
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
- Replaces propane gas tank.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Complete Transportation of Dangerous Goods awareness training
- Informs Team Leader if any of the above tasks cannot be performed as required.
- This generally describes the operations performed by these individuals, however may be required to perform other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must hold valid lift truck driver’s certificate
- Will be flexible to be placed on either afternoon or night shift
- Proven Mathematical, Mechanical, Measurement and Blueprint reading skills
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Straight shifts, no rotation. Shift will be afternoon (3:00pm-11:00pm) or night shift (11:00pm - 7:00am). Shifts are 8 hours plus overtime opportunities.
- Overtime may be required, as per the collective agreement.
- Starting wage is $1.50 lower than top rate. A gradual increase of .50 will be given at 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months. Top rate at only 9 months.
- There is a shift premium of 1.05 for afternoon shift and 1.10 per hour for night shift.
- Two weeks vacation after one year of service. One day of vacation will be granted for each month of service completed for the first year.

- Probationary period of 520 working hours and 3 months of service.
- This is a unionized environment. Employment is bound by the collective agreement
Pay: $31.89 per hour
