PURPOSE: Reporting to the Ts’ewulhtun Associate Health Director, the Quality Improvement & Safety Coordinator has a primary role in contributing to the Ts’ewulhtun Health Centre’s efforts to continually improve its processes, programs and services by promoting and providing information on quality improvement and assisting with implementing quality improvement and special project activities. The Quality Improvement & Safety Coordinator will work with Health Centre staff to help identify areas for improvement, assist with implementation of quality improvement initiatives, and monitor progress to deliver high quality, culturally safe health and wellness services. This is a full-time permanent 35 hours per week position that works primarily in the office with some local travel required. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Cowichan Tribes offers excellent health and dental benefits and pension plan, with benefits eligibility beginning after one month of employment and pension plan eligibility after three months. The position includes paid training, paid vacation and paid sick leave. Depending on experience, the position starts at $36.89-$39.11 per hour ($67,145.40 - $71,172.04 annually).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support quality improvement, safety and ongoing planning for health and wellness servicesthat meet community needs and strive for best outcomes
- Engage Health Centre staff, program teams and leadership to promote a safety culturefocused on continuous learning and improvement
- Assist with aligning and updating policies and procedures with relevant health service requirements, heath professional and practice standards, and occupational health and safety regulations
- Help identify training needs and research resources to build capacity and support organizational goals to continually improve delivery of high quality, culturally safe health and wellness services
- Collaborate with teams to develop action plans and implement improvement processesbased on identified trends, areas for improvement and opportunities to enhanceeffectiveness of processes and client satisfaction
- Support data collection and logistics for onsite surveys or questionnaires as required
- Assist with staff training and support teams to complete quality improvement initiativesand special projects (i.e. EMR roll out; staff orientation) as directed
- Champion positive change through a quality improvement and safety lens
- Attend relevant quality improvement networking meetings and training sessions, as directed
- Assist with planning and implementing engagement activities or events to celebratelearning outcomes and progress on quality initiatives
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (please attach all required documents)
- Grade 12 or equivalent is required
- Post-secondary education in Community/Public Health, Healthcare Management, QualityManagement, Indigenous studies, or related
- 5 years of experience in project coordination in a healthcare or service-oriented setting
- Experience working in a First Nations community-based setting is an asset
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection methods; working knowledge ofOCAP® is an asset
- A combination of education and related experience may be considered
- Criminal Record Check is required
- Valid BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
