Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator specializing in Structural and Miscellaneous Steel, Construction, Fabrication or Manufacturing to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in project planning by accurately assessing costs, preparing detailed estimates, and supporting project bids. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large and small scale steel projects, ensuring competitive pricing and successful project execution. Candidates should possess strong construction estimating expertise, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency with industry-standard software tools. A background in construction or steel fabrication is preferred, along with a solid understanding of project management principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel projects based on drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Review structural, architectural, and customer-supplied drawings to identify scope, quantities, materials, and project requirements.
- Complete quantity takeoffs and support pricing activities using estimating tools, spreadsheets, and drawing review software.
- Prepare estimate of labor and /or materials
- Collaborate with clients, project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to clarify scope and ensure complete and competitive estimates.
- Apply knowledge of steel fabrication and installation processes to support practical and cost-effective estimating decisions.
- Manage multiple bids and priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of estimating experience in structural and/or miscellaneous steel, construction, fabrication, or manufacturing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, customer-supplied drawings, and specifications.
- Understanding of steel fabrication and installation processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, estimating software, spreadsheets, and Bluebeam for drawing review and quantity takeoffs.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, complete estimates.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Client-facing confidence and professionalism.
- Experience with CAD software and drawing creation or modification is considered an asset but is not required.
