Shop Labourer – Aluminum Fabrication
DNO Glass is looking for a reliable and hardworking Shop Labourer to join our fabrication team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has an interest in manufacturing or construction, and wants to develop skills in commercial aluminum fabrication.
Working under the direction of experienced shop personnel, the Shop Labourer will assist with the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of aluminum frames and glazing systems for commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the fabrication and assembly of aluminum storefront, curtain wall, and entrance systems.
- Measure, cut, drill, machine, and prepare aluminum components according to shop drawings and specifications.
- Organize and stage materials for fabrication and upcoming projects.
- Load, unload, and move materials safely throughout the shop.
- Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing completed products for delivery.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Perform quality checks to ensure fabricated products meet company standards.
- Report damaged materials, equipment issues, or fabrication concerns to the Shop Foreman.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fabrication shop, manufacturing, construction, or a related trade is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Ability to follow drawings, instructions, and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work.
- Forklift experience is an asset but not required.
- Valid driver's licence is considered an asset.
