Hexcel Construction has been one of the lower mainland's premier site servicing contractors since 1985. We are currently looking for passionate individuals who would like to establish careers in the construction industry.
The Civil Pipe Layer position will involve the performance of various activities such as:
- Reading blueprints, specifications and technical drawings
- Setting elevations and grades for roads, underground utilities and site prep
- Installing civil utility components such as pipes and manholes to establish electrical, water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems
- Aligning, positioning and sealing pipes
- Checking slopes using lasers or levels
- Layout of pipe routes
- Coordination of pipe routes in accordance to technical drawings and specifications
- Communicating & coordinating with heavy equipment operators
- Working in confined spaces such as trenches, manholes, etc.
- Assisting heavy equipment operators with equipment attachments
- Operating small machinery, equipment and tools such as compactors, rollers, etc
- Daily involvement in safety conscious activities
- Other various construction related activities
All applicants applying for the position should have the following qualifications and experience:
- 1 year of civil construction experience that involved installing utility components for water, sanitary, storm, etc. systems (PREFERRED)
- Minimal experience coordinating with grade-men, equipment operators and foreman
- Minimal experience with laser levels and locators
- Minimal experience with interpreting plans and civil/engineering drawings
- Effective Communication skills (English)
- Understanding of current OH&S safe work practices and regulations
- Ability to work 5 days a week, 8+ hours per day
- Ability to commute to job site locations in the lower mainland
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
- Ability to work well within a team environment
The position is full time and offers competitive pay at rates from $30.00 - $34.00 per hour. A higher wage is negotiable for the right experience.
