Reporting to the unit manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse - Adult Acute Psychiatry 10-2A AHE is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for adults presenting with acute addictions and mental health concerns. The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide safe, effective, and stage-matched nursing care according to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing care standards. The Licensed Practical Nurse works within a concurrent capable, recovery-oriented framework, within the context of a multidisciplinary team. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
2 years of recent experience in an Adult Acute Addiction/ Mental Health nursing role. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and the Health Information Act. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Experience working with the CoACT model of care is required. Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with clients with concurrent disorders and are appropriately able to assess and manage signs of withdrawal from multiple substances.
