Journeyperson Boilermaker – Shipbuilding Project
Location: North Vancouver, BC
Pay: $59.29 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Full-time project assignment
Start Date: As soon as available, with upcoming project intakes
Project Duration: Through October 2026, with possible extension
Matrix HR is recruiting certified Journeyperson Boilermakers for a high-profile shipbuilding project in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Compensation and Travel Support
- $59.29 per hour
- Double-time overtime where applicable

- Daily meal allowance paid seven days per week:
- Month 1: $107.35 per day
- Month 2: $85.07 per day
- Month 3 and beyond: $56.76 per day
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, ship drawings and welding symbols
- Fit and assemble structural steel components
- Cut and prepare metal plates and beams using torches, grinders and plasma cutters
- Position and align structural components using chain falls, wedges, jacks and rigging equipment
- Complete tack welding and fitting work
- Inspect assemblies for dimensional accuracy, alignment and structural integrity
- Follow shipyard safety, quality and production requirements
- Work collaboratively with welders, riggers, supervisors and other trades
Requirements
- Valid Journeyperson or Red Seal Boilermaker certification
- Previous boilermaker, structural fitting, vessel or heavy-industrial experience
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols
- Experience using fitting, cutting and rigging equipment
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to complete Reliability Status and Controlled Goods screening
- Ability to meet shipyard safety and physical requirements
A Red Seal Welder certificate alone does not meet the trade-certification requirement.
Referral Bonus
Matrix HR offers a $400 referral bonus to anyone who refers a certified Journeyperson Boilermaker who is hired and completes at least 40 hours of work.
The referral bonus is paid to the referring individual and is not part of the candidate’s compensation. There is no limit on eligible referrals.
