Landscape Construction Foreman
Position Overview
Kasty Landscape Group is looking for an experienced Landscape Construction Foreman capable of leading a crew on high-end residential landscape construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in hardscaping, pool-adjacent construction, grading, drainage, machine operation, and crew leadership.
This role requires someone who can work independently, read site plans, manage daily site production, communicate clearly with management and clients, and maintain a high standard of workmanship from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
The Landscape Construction Foreman will be responsible for leading and working alongside a crew to complete landscape construction projects efficiently, safely, and to company standards.
Responsibilities include:
Lead a landscape construction crew on residential projects
Organize daily tasks, materials, equipment, and crew responsibilities
Work around vinyl, fiberglass, and concrete pool installations
Complete hardscaping projects including interlock, natural stone, concrete prep, coping, retaining walls, steps, grading, drainage, and base preparation
Ensure proper excavation, compaction, elevations, slope, drainage, and layout
Operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, saws, loaders, and trailers
Read and follow drawings, layouts, grades, and construction details
Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
Communicate daily progress, issues, material needs, and job changes to management
Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, pool crews, suppliers, and clients when needed
Train and direct crew members while maintaining productivity and quality
Ensure all work is completed to a high-end residential standard
Protect existing property, access routes, driveways, lawns, fences, and neighbouring areas
Assist with access preparation and restoration after construction
Take responsibility for tools, equipment, company vehicles, and job site materials
Required Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
Minimum 3–5 years of landscape construction experience
Previous experience running a crew or acting as a lead hand/foreman
Strong knowledge of hardscape construction methods
Experience working around pools, pool coping, pool decking, drainage, and final grading
Ability to set grades, use lasers, read elevations, and understand proper slope
Experience with interlock installation, base preparation, concrete edging, natural stone, armor stone, retaining walls, and steps
Ability to operate landscape construction equipment safely and efficiently
Strong problem-solving skills on site
Ability to manage labourers and keep a crew productive
Good communication skills with management, clients, suppliers, and trades
Valid driver’s licence required
Ability to tow trailers and operate equipment is an asset
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the job site and understands that high-end landscape construction requires more than just getting the work done. The right person understands drainage, base preparation, clean lines, proper layout, and protecting the client’s property.
This person should be reliable, organized, physically capable, and confident leading a crew while still being willing to work hands-on every day.
Assets
The following would be considered an asset:
Experience with pool installations or pool renovation projects
Knowledge of vinyl-over-steel pool construction
Experience installing pool coping and pool decking
Experience with Techo-Bloc, Unilock, Permacon, natural stone, and concrete products
DZ or AR licence
First Aid, WHMIS, working at heights, or machine training certificates
Experience with grading, drainage systems, catch basins, and retaining walls
Ability to read construction drawings and site plans
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, skill level, leadership ability, and overall value brought to the company.
Schedule
This is a seasonal/full-time position with the possibility of year-round work depending on workload and winter operations.
