Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Journeyperson / Foreman to join our team. This position is responsible for leading electrical crews, coordinating daily site activities, completing electrical installations, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and according to specifications, schedules, and applicable codes.
The ideal candidate is a skilled electrician who can confidently lead a crew, communicate effectively with project management and other trades, troubleshoot electrical issues, and take ownership of their work and jobsite.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Installation & Technical Duties
- Perform, oversee, and troubleshoot commercial, industrial, and/or residential electrical installations.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
- Install and terminate electrical systems, equipment, wiring, conduit, lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, data/communication systems, and other electrical components as required.
- Identify and resolve electrical issues and deficiencies.
- Ensure installations are completed in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable Alberta regulations.
- Perform testing, commissioning, and verification of electrical systems as required.
- Coordinate material and equipment requirements with the Project Manager.
Crew Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and provide direction to electricians and apprentices on site.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure crews are working efficiently.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to apprentices and less experienced electricians.
- Monitor productivity and workmanship.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful jobsite environment.
- Address performance, quality, or safety concerns as they arise.
- Coordinate work between electrical crews and other trades.
Project Coordination
- Review drawings and project requirements before and during installation.
- Coordinate daily work activities with the Project Manager, site superintendent, general contractor, and other trades.
- Identify potential issues, conflicts, delays, or changes and communicate them promptly.
- Assist with material take-offs and identify required materials and equipment.
- Track project progress and provide updates to management.
- Assist with estimating, scheduling, and planning when required.
- Complete and communicate required daily site documentation, timesheets, and project reports.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Conduct or participate in toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and pre-job planning.
- Ensure employees are using appropriate PPE and safe work practices.
- Identify hazards and take corrective action when necessary.
- Report incidents, near misses, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and used safely.
- Follow all applicable lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures.
Quality Control
- Ensure electrical installations meet company and project quality standards.
- Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies.
- Ensure work is completed accurately and according to drawings and specifications.
- Assist with inspections and respond to deficiencies identified by inspectors or project management.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship across the project.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Alberta Electrical Journeyperson Certificate.
- Previous experience working as an electrical foreman or lead hand is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Experience with commercial and/or industrial electrical installations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a crew.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding construction environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- First Aid, CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, and other relevant safety certifications are considered an asset.

Working Conditions
- Full-time construction position.
- Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to construction site hazards, noise, dust, heights, and electrical equipment.
- May require working from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
- May require overtime, evenings, weekends, or travel depending on project requirements.
- Must be physically capable of standing, walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, and performing electrical construction duties for extended periods.
