Job Summary
I am looking for one or two licensed therapists to join me as I grow A Place to Relate, a warm and welcoming counselling practice in the heart of Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter.
I would love to connect with experienced therapists who are genuine, relational, and committed to helping their clients feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I value strong therapeutic relationships alongside thoughtful, clinically effective care, and I am hoping to find therapists who share those values while practicing ethically and independently.
This is a walk-in ready opportunity for a therapist who would like to expand their current practice within a supportive and collaborative setting. The space is fully furnished and thoughtfully designed, allowing you to focus on your clinical work without having to manage the practical demands of maintaining your own office.
The space includes a private counselling office, a comfortable waiting room, and a private washroom for clients. Everything is already in place for you to welcome your clients into a professional and inviting environment.
What is included
A fully furnished and welcoming counselling office
A comfortable waiting room for clients
A private washroom
An ongoing referral stream, with referrals offered based on client fit and therapist availability
Jane booking, charting, and practice management
Access to the Square payment system
Direct billing options for eligible clients
A profile on the practice website to support your visibility
Opportunities for regular peer consultation and professional connection
A computer and camera for virtual appointments
Coffee, tea, and snacks for clients
Secure gated parking for the therapist
Private parking for clients
A beautiful and convenient location in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter
My hope is to create a practice where therapists maintain their independence while also feeling connected, valued, and supported. You will have the freedom to practice in a way that feels authentic to you, choose the clients who are a good fit, and continue developing the areas of clinical work you are most passionate about.
Schedule and availability
The office space is currently available on Tuesday through Friday evenings beginning at 4:00 pm, as well as on weekends.
Beginning in January, full daytime and evening availability will open from Tuesday through Friday, along with weekends.
I am looking for someone who can offer a minimum of 15 hours of client availability each week. Within the available office hours, you will choose your own schedule and decide which clients and appointments you accept.
Compensation
A competitive, progressive fee split is offered, with the therapist's percentage increasing as their weekly caseload grows. The structure is designed to recognize consistency and encourage sustainable caseload growth.
What I am looking for
A current Registered Clinical Counsellor designation with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
Professional liability insurance
Established clinical experience and confidence working independently
A warm, relational, and nonjudgmental approach
A commitment to ethical and clinically responsible practice
An interest in professional connection and collaboration
I would be especially excited to hear from therapists who are trained in EMDR or another recognized trauma treatment approach. I am also interested in someone who enjoys working with youth and their families. Experience working with couples, relationships, or attachment concerns would be an asset as well.
If you are looking for a beautiful, fully prepared space where you can expand your current practice while being part of something warm and collaborative, I would genuinely love to hear from you.
Please apply with your resume and a short introduction sharing a little about yourself, the clients you most enjoy working with, and what you are hoping to find in a practice.
Pay: $90.00-$115.00 per hour
