Overview
We are seeking a skilled Grain Farm Operator with a valid 1A Licence to join our agricultural team. This role involves operating and maintaining farm machinery, and supporting various crop production activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with farm equipment, and the physical capability to handle heavy lifting and equipment operation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic farming environment focused on efficient grain production and sustainable practices.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy farm machinery including harvesters, plows, and seeders in accordance with safety standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot farm equipment, ensuring optimal performance through routine inspections and repairs.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields.
- Perform general maintenance tasks using hand tools and power tools to keep equipment in good working condition.
- Assist with planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and post-harvest activities as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of fields for pests, diseases, or other issues affecting crop health.
- Support the setup and operation of irrigation infrastructure to optimize water use efficiency.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and farm work.
Experience
- Valid 1A Licence required for operating heavy farm machinery.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience maintaining or repairing farm equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems, horticulture practices, and crop management is advantageous.
- Experience working with farm machinery, power tools, hand tools, and heavy equipment operation is highly desirable.
- Basic math skills for measuring inputs, calculating areas, and managing inventory.
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or operating machinery in outdoor conditions.
- Prior experience in agriculture or farming environments is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided for specific tasks as needed. This role is vital for ensuring efficient grain production while maintaining safety standards across all operations. Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
