About the Role
The primary role of the Glazier/Installer is to fit and install aluminum, stainless steel and glass assemblies on interior and exterior walls of commercial, industrial and occasionally, residential projects.
Duties:
- Basic construction knowledge: Understanding of fundamental construction principles and building codes related to glazing and aluminum installations.
- Installs pre-assembled aluminum framework for windows or doors designed to be fitted with glass panels
- Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors and glass products on walls, ceilings of interior and/or exterior of buildings
- Repair and service residential windows, commercial aluminum windows and other glass supporting structures with the ability to work at heights on scaffolding
- Performs other duties or projects as may be assigned
- Clear communication skills to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Familiarity with various glazing systems, such as curtainwall, storefronts and Glass partitions, is an asset
Requirements
- Previous experience in the construction industry, preferably in glass or carpentry
- Working knowledge of installing structures or fixtures
- Previous experience on how to perform glass, framework and curtain wall installation however we are willing to train the right candidate
- Basic construction knowledge: understand the fundamentals of construction and building materials.
- Ability to read Blueprints, is an asset
- Hand and power tools: Familiarity with using common hand tools and power tools safety.
- Measurements skills: Ability to take accurate measurements for window and door installations
- Lifting skills: Up to 100 lb’s, ability to handle lifting and installing heavy glass panels safely.
- Communication: Clear communication skills to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Attention to detail: Precision is crucial in measuring and fitting glass and aluminum frames.
- Problem-solving: Emerging problem-solving skills
- Valid G driver's license with clear driver abstract
- Certified boom/scissor operator an asset
