Interventional Pain Care Clinic Medical Assistant Job Description
Responsibilities for Medical Assistant
- Document in patients chart under appropriate headings while doctor is interacting/treating with patient, making sure all relevant medical information is recorded accurately
- Assist physician with patients to increase physician efficiency
- Optimize physician schedule
- Assist physician in ensuring all aspects of charting are up to date and complete
- Transcribe verbal conversation between the physician and the patient into the EMR
- Prepare and print all necessary paperwork (ie. billings sheets, requisitions, prescriptions, etc.)
- Handle billing process
- Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients' health history
- Draw up injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
- Assist physician with medical treatments, procedures, and exams
- Populate medical forms as requested by the physician (ie. lawyer requests, physician notes, etc.)
- Merge and finish patient consultation note for Doctor to check and sign before faxing out to referring doctor
Qualifications for Medical Assistant
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Prior knowledge of Oscar EMR systems would be an asset
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Prior experience is preferred but not essential
- Full training will be provided
