Lead One of Alberta’s High-Production Log Haul Operations
Martushev Group is seeking an experienced and driven Log Haul Foreman to oversee and coordinate our forestry trucking operations based out of Whitecourt, Alberta.
This is a leadership position within a fast-paced, high-volume operation hauling approximately 300,000 – 400,000 m³ of timber annually. We are looking for a strong operational leader who can keep production moving safely, efficiently, and professionally while managing drivers, equipment, logistics, and daily field operations.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of log haul operations, including dispatch coordination, driver supervision, production scheduling, road monitoring, and operational problem solving.
This role requires someone who understands forestry trucking, Alberta bush road conditions, winter hauling challenges, and the importance of maintaining production while enforcing safety and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily log haul operations and truck activity
- Dispatch drivers and organize haul schedules to maximize production efficiency
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely and consistently
- Maintain communication with drivers, contractors, loaders, mills, and management
- Monitor haul routes, bush road conditions, weather, and access issues
- Ensure compliance with company policies, permits, transportation regulations, and safety requirements
- Manage TM9s, scale tickets, load documentation, and daily operational reporting
- Troubleshoot breakdowns, delays, road issues, and operational disruptions quickly and effectively
- Enforce accountability, professionalism, and operational discipline within the crew
- Support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in log haul operations and forestry trucking
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of Alberta forestry operations and bush road systems
- Experience working in high-production environments
- Excellent dispatching, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong understanding of transportation safety regulations and forestry hauling requirements
- Reliable, hardworking, and results-oriented mindset
- Valid Class 1 licence considered an asset
