We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable VEX Robotics Club Lead to guide and inspire students in our academy's VEX Robotics program. The VEX Robotics Club Lead will be responsible for leading teams in designing, building, and programming robots for competitions and learning activities. This role involves mentoring students, managing projects, and creating a fun, collaborative, and educational environment where students can explore robotics, engineering, and problem-solving through hands-on learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership:
- Lead and oversee the VEX Robotics club, managing all aspects of the program, including scheduling, event coordination, and team organization.
- Mentor students in the design, building, and programming of robots using VEX Robotics kits.
- Guide students through the process of preparing for VEX Robotics competitions, ensuring that teams are well-prepared and confident.
- Educational Support:
- Provide instruction on robotics concepts, engineering principles, coding, and troubleshooting.
- Foster a collaborative learning environment, encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and projects that challenge students while aligning with educational goals and competition standards.
- Team Management:
- Organize students into teams, assign roles, and ensure all team members are actively participating and contributing.
- Track progress and assist teams in refining their robots for optimal performance.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to take risks, ask questions, and learn from failure.
- Competition Preparation:
- Plan and coordinate participation in VEX Robotics competitions and other relevant events.
- Ensure that all necessary materials, equipment, and logistics are in place for successful competition participation.
- Support students in reviewing and analyzing competition results to learn from their experiences and improve in future events.
- Collaboration with Staff & Parents:
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and any necessary support.
- Collaborate with other STEM educators, staff, and volunteers to enhance the overall learning experience for students.
- Equipment & Resource Management:
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all VEX Robotics kits and related materials.
- Manage inventory and ordering of supplies, tools, and equipment as needed for the program.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in robotics, engineering, or related STEM fields through education or work experience.
- Experience leading or mentoring youth in educational or extracurricular settings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage students in hands-on, collaborative learning.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with students, staff, and parents effectively.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with robotics competitions (VEX Robotics, FIRST Robotics, etc.).
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, coding languages, and other robotics platforms.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience in STEM-related programs is a plus.
