Behaviour Essentials Inc. is looking for a skilled individual to fill a Full Time Instructor Therapist position. Must have experience working as an Instructor Therapist already. If no experience as an Instructor Therapist, the candidate must be willing to go through our training process as an Instructor Therapist Intern. This individual will work one-on-one with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (or other developmental disabilities) in the child’s home, the Behaviour Essentials centre and/or community. The individual will provide direct client care utilizing a combination of ABA teaching strategies and natural environment teaching opportunities as directed by our Clinical Staff. This individual will follow and implement behavioural skill acquisition and behaviour reduction protocols. They will collaborate with other team members, maintain regular communication with the ABA team and parents, and participate in scheduled team meetings and trainings as required. These hours include working with multiple children throughout the day, evenings, and Saturdays. Travel time and mileage between clients is paid. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide direct client care in a one-to-one setting, utilizing a combination of ABA teaching strategies and natural environment teaching opportunities.
- Follow and implement behavioural skill acquisition and behaviour reduction protocols.
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behaviour.
- Assist with preparing teaching materials and completing clinical assessments
- Effectively document progress through detailed notes on our online platform.
- Maintain client confidentiality and professionalism.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Collaborate with client team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, and co-workers.
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
- Specific duties & responsibilities will vary depending upon client needs and assessment results.
Qualifications
- College diploma or undergraduate degree in a related field
- Working towards completion of Autism and Behavioural Sciences Graduate Certificate, Registered Behavior Technician®, or equivalent
- Experience working with children with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Understanding of early childhood development and comfortable in appropriately engaging young children at play
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to receive and incorporate feedback; and advanced self-reflection skills are required
- An interest in professional development and further developing clinical skills
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening)
