Position Summary: A Line Cook prepares hot and cold meals for presentation according to recipes and menus. Line Cooks also monitor portions, manage inventories and maintain a sanitary kitchen work area.
Reports to: Executive Chef / Sous Chef
Job Tasks
- Inspect all kitchen surfaces to ensure that all areas are safe and sanitary in accordance with food handling procedures.
- Prepare food as directed.
- Season and cook food according to recipes using personal judgment and experience.
- Be consistent in plate presentation and quality of dishes as shown by Executive Chef.
- Estimate expected food preparation levels based on the days business/ reservations.
- Maintain section, and properly stock, store, date, and rotate food items.
- Organize food storage and kitchen equipment for service.
- Consult with Executive Chef about the daily special’s menu. Ensure all mis en place is accounted for, to maintain a smooth service.
- Supervise work of kitchen staff as directed by management or when needed.
Main Responsibilities, Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Adhere to all Health and Safety, and Section 4 polices set in place at the club.
- Every order is handled with accuracy and speed when executing assigned tasks. All member complaints must be are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
- A line cook must encourage cooperative and positive levels of communication with kitchen staff, front of house staff and management.
- Must be adaptable to different scenarios, and follow instructions carefully to maintain high levels of service.
- Must immediately recognize potential areas of concern and adhere to current practices and processes to maintain quality of products and services provided to the customers.
- Have an excellent understanding and knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures for preparing and producing food for consumption, including storage, and safe handling techniques.
- Must have the ability to lift pots, pans, weighing up to 40 pounds, and be able to perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Knowledgeable use of safe working practises, when lifting and handling materials or equipment.
- Must be willing to be a team player, assist others, and work overtime if required
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
