Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, the RPN position is focused on enriching residents' lives by ensuring they can make their own choices and lead full lives as independently as they can. Acts as the team leader for resident care and assists Health and Wellness Manager in all levels of care.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Experience with hospitality, customer service and understanding of the difference between clinical care and retirement home care.
- Core understanding of empathy and compassion.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to deliver results above resident, team and family expectations.
- Outstanding communication skills in written and oral.
- The ability to multi-task, develop priorities, and shift focus on the fly if faced with an urgent resident concern.
- Team player who never says "that's not my job."
- Must love people.
BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Has obtained a recognized nursing license (RPN/RN licensing) in good standing with Ontario College of Nurses.
- Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR certifications required.
- Previous experience working as an RPN/RN in a senior's health care setting is considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to evaluate and meet resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently. Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
- A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
- Has demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
