Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Archival Assistant to support our archival and records management team. This role involves maintaining and organizing historical documents, digital records, and databases to ensure accurate preservation and easy retrieval of information. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, proficiency with computer systems, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities
- Assist with the cataloging, filing, and indexing of physical and digital records
- Manage databases to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval
- Support data collection and research projects related to archival materials
- Maintain organized filing systems for both paper-based and electronic documents
- Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Support the preservation of archival materials by following proper handling procedures
- Contribute to ongoing projects by compiling reports and summaries as needed
- Provide excellent customer service to internal teams requesting access or assistance with records
- Maintain documentation of procedures and updates within archival systems
- Assist with digitization efforts, including scanning documents and updating digital archives
Experience
- Prior experience working with databases, data entry, or records management is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and documenting processes
- Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and database software
- Basic research skills for locating information within archives or digital collections
- Writing skills for preparing reports or descriptive records of archival materials
- Typing speed and accuracy are essential for efficient data entry tasks
- Customer service experience is a plus, especially when assisting internal or external stakeholders
