About the Role
The Registered Cardiology Technologist will be responsible for performing and supporting cardiac diagnostic testing in accordance with established clinical protocols, equipment standards, organizational policies, and applicable professional requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 12-lead ECGs in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare patients and perform Holter monitor applications and removals.
- Apply and set up 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors and assist with data collection and uploading.
- Perform treadmill stress testing in accordance with established protocols and within the technologist's scope of practice.
- Monitor patients throughout diagnostic testing and recognize and respond appropriately to changes or concerns, following established clinical protocols and escalation procedures.
- Ensure cardiac diagnostic equipment is functioning appropriately and report equipment concerns when identified.
- Download, upload, and organize Holter and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring data for review and interpretation.
- Prepare required documentation and diagnostic information for physician interpretation.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
- Provide patients with clear instructions before, during, and after diagnostic testing.
- Follow infection prevention, privacy, safety, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with physicians and the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and patient-centered approach at all times.
- Conducts treadmill stress tests while working independently without the direction of a physician, and can determine when to terminate the test.
- Perform ECG, Holter Monitor, and Ambulatory Blood Pressure hook-ups.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized program of Cardiology Technology.
- Current Registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists.
- Current Registration with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC)
- Current certificate in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate clinical documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cardiac diagnostic testing procedures and applicable clinical standards.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment used for ECG, Holter, ambulatory blood pressure, and treadmill testing.
- Ability to recognize patient concerns or changes during testing and follow established escalation procedures.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Commitment to providing a positive and professional patient experience.
- Ability to assess physical limitations of patients conducting testing and adjust accordingly.
Nice to Have
- Background as an exercise professional (e.g., Exercise Physiologist, Kinesiologist), with experience in general exercise testing and exercise prescription
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 30.0 per week
