Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Day Camp Leaders to join our team for the Canada Summer Jobs program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with children in a dynamic outdoor environment, fostering creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. The ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children and a background in early childhood education, tutoring, or teaching. As a Day Camp Leader, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and memorable summer experience for all participants.
Duties / Roles / Qualifications
- Provides hands on STEAM, coding, robotics, arts and creative technology programs for children and youth.
- Delivers after-school programs, summer camps, and workshops in collaboration with local schools and community centres.
-Uses project-based and experiential learning to develop digital skills, creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.
- Designs programs that are age-appropriate, inclusive and engaging, supporting students with different learning styles and abilities.
- Creates safe, structured learning environments that encourage curiosity confidence, and participation.
-Supports the local community by offering educational enrichment opportunities that complement classroom learning and promote youth development
- Lead and supervise groups of children during daily camp activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate games, arts and crafts, sports, and educational activities
- Foster a positive environment that encourages teamwork, inclusivity, and fun
- Assist with setting up camp spaces and preparing materials for activities
- Support children in developing social skills and confidence through guided interactions
- Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians regarding camper progress and any concerns
- Enforce camp rules and safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all participants
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in educational or recreational settings
- Skills in tutoring or teaching young children are highly valued
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles is an asset
- Ability to engage children in diverse activities while maintaining patience and enthusiasm
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Delegated a large group, during long periods
- A genuine interest in fostering a positive summer experience for youth through creative programming and leadership
Tasks and Responsibilities also include:
- Lead daily Arts, STEM, coding and creative activities for children
- Supervise campers and maintain a safe,
positive environment
- Prepare materials and set up activities independently
- Guide students through hands-on
projects and problem-solving tasks - Adapt activities for different ages and learning styles
- Manage group behaviour and encourage teamwork
- Follow health, safety and child protection policies
- Communicate basic updates to organization and team members
