Essential Duties:
In keeping with the organization’s policies and procedures, along with all necessary legislative authority, the General Machinist will:
· Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise.
· Have general machinist capabilities (Bridgeport, Grinder, surface, ID/OD, Lathe, and a wide variety of hand tools (drills, grinders, etc.).
· Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening.
· Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock.
· Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
· Operates in a safe manner by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Train other employees on how to properly operate machines and hand tools.
· Other duties as required to maintain a positive team-oriented environment.
Education and/or Experience:
· Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
· Previous experience (2 years) in a tooling environment.
· Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
· Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical problems that arise
· Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
· Should have a positive and professional attitude
· Available to work weekends and overtime
· Capable of standing for extended periods of time
· Ability to lift 25 pounds for short periods of time
· Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented, analytical individual with an attention to detail.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Able communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with team members.
· The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
