Job Summary
Reporting to the Thi Kwasun Program Coordinator, the Junior Community Youth Mentor will work as part of the Nanoose First Nation (NFN) team to support children and youth through positive, engaging, and culturally relevant programming. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mentorship, leadership, and community-based learning. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, responsible, and passionate about supporting youth development.
What you’ll do:
As our Junior Community Youth Mentor, you will:
- Support the delivery of youth programs and activities in a safe and inclusive environment
- Engage children and youth in recreational, cultural, and educational experiences
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to program participants
- Assist with program planning, setup, and cleanup
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and community guidelines
- Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned

Minimum requirements:
- Between 15 and 29 years of age
- Completion of Leaving Certificate or Dogwood Diploma
- First Nations, Inuit, or Métis ancestry
- Valid Social Insurance Number prior to start date
- Valid Driver’s License is an asset
- Availability for virtual/online training sessions
- Willingness to complete Child Protection and Safeguarding Training during onboarding
The conditions you’ll be working in:
This is a full-time (30–35 hours/week) short-term summer position. Placement starts June 22, 2026 and ends September 4, 2026.
Wage rate: $18.50 per hour.
