- Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key accounting and finance processes.
- Take ownership of month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting to the parent company.
- Support and directly assist with day-to-day operational accounting tasks (invoices, bank reconciliations) during the initial months and as needed.
- Coordinate and support year-end audits and review engagements, preparing all required documentation and schedules.
- Collaborate closely with the local General Manager and remote parent-company finance team to ensure seamless coordination.
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support local management decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong, in-depth understanding of full-cycle accounting and accounting governance.
- Proven experience establishing internal controls, financial processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Experience supporting external audit and review engagements.
- Experience in service-based industries is preferred (trucking and logistics experience is an asset, but not required).
- Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, and post-merger integration is a strong plus.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on approach.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to the parent company in British Columbia (approximately once per quarter).
