Position Summary
The Back of House Field Training Specialist is responsible for leading and supporting kitchen operations during new store openings across Canada. This role provides hands-on training, supervises and coaches BOH staff and supervisors, ensures operational and food safety standards are met, and partners with franchisees to establish sustainable kitchen systems and workflows. The BOH Field Training Specialist works both as a trainer and an operational leader, providing direction, troubleshooting, and performance support to ensure successful and consistent launch execution.
Duties & Responsibilities
Training & Development
· Conduct hands-on training with BOH staff, demonstrating proper station setup, prep organization, cooking procedures, and plate builds.
· Train supervisors and key BOH leads on workflow planning, shift leadership, expo communication, line pacing, and kitchen organization.
· Reinforce safe food handling practices, sanitation procedures, storage standards, and HACCP compliance.
· Provide in-the-moment coaching, correction, evaluation, and follow-up to ensure learning is applied and sustained.
Operational Execution
· Oversee expo line quality standards, ensuring plating, portioning, and ticket-times meet brand expectations.
· Monitor kitchen line efficiency and adjust workflow, communication flow, and staffing where needed to maintain service execution.
· Support franchisees in menu understanding, prep scaling, par level planning, and waste control.
Franchisee Support & Advisory
· Partner with franchisees to assess staff readiness, identify skills gaps, and recommend staffing or scheduling adjustments.
· Coach franchise owners on effective BOH leadership practices, including delegation, communication, and accountability.
· Provide constructive operational feedback and assist franchisees in developing action plans to improve performance.
Store Opening Setup & Implementation
· Lead BOH setup during openings, including equipment organization, storage layout, prep flow design, and line configuration.
· Prepare and implement necessary documentation, including training guides, checklists, temperature logs, cleaning routines, and SOP binders.
· Confirm BOH systems, equipment, and supplies are in place and ready for soft and grand opening execution.
Communication & Reporting
· Provide status updates during openings and contribute feedback during weekly Microsoft Teams meetings.
· Track expenses and submit reports using Microsoft Excel.
· Utilize internal systems (Teams, Planner, and shared documents) for training documentation and opening progress tracking.
Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of experience in a kitchen supervisory, culinary leadership, or training-focused role.
· Proficient knowledge of proper food preparation techniques, handling, storage, shelf-life management, and FIFO rotation.
· Ability to coach, correct, motivate, and support staff and supervisors in fast-paced environments.
· Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Planner).
· Ability to travel across Canada as required.
Working Conditions
· Regular operating hours: 6:30am to 3:00pm, with flexibility for evenings/weekends during openings.
· Standing and walking for extended periods
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
