Position: 1 Permanent, Full Time
Intensive Service Support Worker is accountable for the direct provision of mental health services to children, youth, and families in Oxford and Elgin County in accordance with both the Child and Family Services Act and the policies and procedures of Wellkin.
Case Management:
· Provide short-term respite services for families by providing temporary supportive care for children and youth with mental health problems, allowing families to receive treatment services which supports the child or youth's service plan.
· Deliver skill development programming which aims to reduce the severity of mental health problems, strengthen coping and resilience, enhance awareness and understanding of the problem, improve functioning at home, school and in the community and stabilize and transition the individual to less intensive or intrusive treatment services.
· Provide, on an as needed basis, direct and other related services to children, youth and their families experiencing a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties through individual, group, or family interventions in the Day Treatment Program.
· Collaborate with the client/family, case manager or assigned therapist and integrate information from relevant external sources to support individualised treatment plans.
· Manage an assigned caseload to provide an effective range of flexible, short-term, intensive intervention services and education to clients/families.
· Coordinate and advocate for specialised assessments and services with other relevant individuals/service providers as needed.
· Provide treatment intervention services using agency approved methodologies, techniques and resources that are informed by evidence.
· Ensure effective time and case management strategies are utilized such that services are delivered to clients in a manner appropriate to their needs.
Program Management:
· Facilitate/Co-facilitate various groups and workshops based on agency and client needs.
· Ensure all client records and statistics are collected and submitted as per program requirements.
Clinical Support:
· Initiate and prepare for supervision and provide appropriate information on assigned cases.
· Provide consultation support to the teams through active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
· Support and facilitate student placements to create a relevant learning experience and ensure that the needs of the agency as well as clients/families are met.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
· Participate in individual and agency development plans and activities.
· Participate in committees and meetings and represent the agency at community events as required and appropriate to the role, plans and activities.
· Prepare for accreditation site reviews and maintain the standards for accreditation.
· Adhere to the Child and Family Services Act, any other relevant legislation, the agency policies and procedures, and Ministry policy directions.
Other:
· Maintain professional boundaries with respect to clients, coworkers, and individuals in the community.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Work or equivalent from a university or college of recognized standing.
· Ability to become certified or re-certified in the use of any required screening and assessment tools, or skills as required by agency standards.
· Police/Vulnerable Persons check.
· Valid Ontario driver's license and insurance and access to a reliable motor vehicle.
· Safe Management; ASIST; CPR
Experience:
· One (1) year experience providing similar services in an established children’s or community mental health centre, hospital, or comparable setting.
· Extensive training/experience in a direct services role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
· Excellent skills in diplomacy, tact, sensitivity, and adherence to requirements for privacy and confidentiality.
· Time management, organizational skills, and attention to accuracy and detail.
· Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
· Strong assessment, case management and crisis intervention skills.
· Knowledge of the issues and methods of program evaluation.
· Excellent knowledge of roles of other professionals providing services to children with mental health, medical, and/or educational problems.
· Adequate knowledge of common medications prescribed to children and youth with mental health issues.
· Strong ability to utilize information from a multisource assessment to determine the needs of clients and create a comprehensive treatment plan.
· Competence in the development and delivery of collaborative service plans and interventions.
· Excellent skills in the completion of writing concise reports, progress updates and outcomes.
· Effective case management skills to prioritize needs within and across cases.
· Knowledge of practice guidelines to provide virtual mental health services.
· Computer and other information technology skills appropriate to the primary functions of the position.
· Knowledge of child welfare and resources within the community.
· Ability and desire to enhance personal skills, knowledge, and continuous learning.
· Reliable transportation to travel in the community and working flexible hours to meet the needs of the clients and families.
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday
8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friday
Hours and Schedule may be subject to change.
$53,417 - $65,820 annually as per collective agreement. Benefits as per the Collective Agreement
