The Department of Immunology, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba is accepting applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Immune-Tissue Signaling Networks and Translational Immunotherapy. Applicants must hold a full-time tenure track/tenured appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba.
The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program supports Canadian universities in advancing world-class research excellence. The CRC program is committed to achieving a more equitable, diverse and inclusive research enterprise. In alignment with the federal government’s policies on non-discrimination and employment equity, the program requires institutions to make concerted efforts to meet equity and diversity targets and provide a supportive and inclusive workplace. To meet the assessment criteria, applicants must be emerging world-class scholars who have completed a PhD, or discipline-appropriate terminal degree, and demonstrate potential to achieve international recognition in their fields in the next five to ten years. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the potential to attract, develop and mentor excellent trainees, and lead an original, innovative high-impact research program.
The selected candidate will be nominated for the Chair through a submission to the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027, or as soon as possible following successful adjudication of the CRC nomination. Tier 2 Chair awards are valued at $100,000 per year for 5 years with an option to renew once. Applicants must normally be within 10 years of obtaining their terminal degree at the time of nomination. Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity or parental leave, extended sick leave, clinical training, and family care) will have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program's Tier 2 justification process, please see the CRC website for eligibility details.
Please contact the UM’s Office of Research Services ([email protected]) for more information.
The successful candidate will establish an original, innovative, extramurally funded research program that addresses fundamental immunologic mechanisms in health and disease, aligned with and complementing existing departmental research strengths. Specific research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, immune cell engineering, antibody engineering, novel immunotherapeutics, fundamental molecular and cellular biology of immune cells, human immunology and/or human cohort studies involving complex molecular and cellular immunology datasets. The candidate will have a strong record of publication in high quality, peer-reviewed journals, and proven ability to secure competitive, extramural research funding. In addition, they will also contribute to undergraduate, graduate, and medical education through teaching and mentorship in Immunology and participate in academic service activities to the department, college, or university.
