Director of Sales
A well-established and growing food manufacturing company is conducting a confidential search for a Director of Sales. This is a senior individual contributor and team leadership role that offers significant scope and visibility within the organization. The Director of Sales will report directly to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing and will play a central role in executing the company's commercial strategy, building customer relationships, and driving consistent revenue growth across key accounts and territories.

Core Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine sales strategies, territory plans, and account-level growth plans that are aligned with the company's overall revenue targets and strategic direction
- Own and manage a portfolio of major customer accounts, building deep and durable relationships at the executive and buyer level that support long-term retention and expansion
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, industry networking, and a thorough understanding of market dynamics
- Ensure that all sales activity, pipeline data, and customer interactions are accurately captured and maintained within the company's CRM system on a consistent basis
- Prepare and present regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates to the VP of Sales & Marketing
- Negotiate customer contracts, pricing, and agreements and prepare documentation for executive review and approval
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales professionals, setting clear individual goals and performance objectives and conducting regular performance evaluations
- Foster a high-performance sales culture built on accountability, customer focus, and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Work in close partnership with HR on all aspects of recruiting, onboarding, and talent development within the sales function
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the marketing team on campaign development, trade show planning, promotional initiatives, and lead generation activities to ensure alignment between sales and marketing efforts
- Collaborate with operations, product development, and finance teams as needed to support customer commitments and ensure smooth execution of sales strategies
- Provide market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights to the broader leadership team to inform product, pricing, and go-to-market decisions
Budget & Reporting
- Manage the sales budget responsibly, ensuring that resources are allocated strategically and that expenses remain consistent with revenue targets
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends on an ongoing basis and translate those findings into actionable recommendations for the leadership team
What We're Looking For
- 7 or more years of progressive sales leadership experience, ideally within food manufacturing or a related industry
- A demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing sales teams in a results-driven environment
- Strong executive-level relationship management and negotiation skills, with a history of winning and retaining major accounts
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and a comfort level with data-driven sales management, forecasting, and reporting
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional, polished presence with customers and internal stakeholders alike
Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
