Assistant Project Manager McNaught Contracting – Nanaimo / Lantzville, BC
McNaught Contracting is a growing construction and development company based in Central Vancouver Island. We specialize in residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects and are looking for a motivated Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in our continued growth.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, solving problems, coordinating people, and helping build a company—not just managing paperwork from behind a desk.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from pre-construction through completion
- Coordinate and schedule trades, suppliers, consultants, and inspections
- Monitor budgets, change orders, progress claims, and project costs
- Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Procure materials and subcontractors
- Maintain project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved
- Work closely with site supervisors and field staff to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward
- Attend site meetings and maintain communication with clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction
- Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and schedule expectations
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project delivery
- Experience managing residential, commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Experience
- Site Superintendent, Foreman, Trade Supervisor, or Project Coordinator background
- Experience with budgeting, estimating, and contract administration
- Familiarity with BC Building Code, permitting, and inspection processes
- Experience working in fast-paced construction environments
