PARR Metal is seeking an experienced Fitter / Welder to join our team. This position is primarily focused on precision fitting, layout, and fabrication, with welding responsibilities supporting the fabrication process. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications to accurately lay out and fit structural and custom fabricated components.
- Assemble, align, tack, and fit parts prior to final welding while ensuring dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Perform MIG welding on fitted assemblies and components, with TIG welding performed as required.
- Verify measurements using precision measuring instruments and ensure all work meets customer and company specifications.
- Plan work sequences and coordinate tasks to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and perform hoisting and rigging activities.
- Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials on a variety of custom fabrication projects.
- Conduct visual inspections of completed work and make adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members to deliver high-quality finished products.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Fitter, Fitter/Welder, or Fabricator.
- Strong blueprint reading, layout, and fabrication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, with TIG welding experience considered a valuable asset.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with precision measuring equipment and maintaining tight tolerances.
- Ability to pass CWB testing for MCAW, FCAW, and GMAW on mild steel is an asset.
- Experience with stainless steel and aluminum fabrication is preferred.
- Familiarity with overhead cranes and safe rigging practices.
- Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Schedule and Compensation
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on project demands.
