Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for a full time one-year term administrative position effective the fall term of the 2026/2027 school year. École Sir John Franklin High School is a 9-12 school enrolling approximately 680 students and with a full-time staff of approximately 60.
Minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor of Education Degree, NWT Teaching Certificate, and a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD:
Be able to provide effective instructional leadership which will foster innovation, collaboration, respect and trust in a team environment
Be a dynamic student-focused leader, dedicated to excellence in student learning in an inclusive environment
Possess strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills
Be able to successfully build strong relationships with all school and community stakeholders
Possess an in-depth knowledge of the NWT graduation requirements and examination process
Have knowledge of, and/or experience in, NWT’s high school curriculum
Have a deep understanding of current assessment practices
Possess strong written and oral presentation skills
Possess strengths in conflict resolution and student discipline
Possess experience in Financial Management
Possess a Master of Education Degree, or currently be participating in a Master of Education degree program or equivalent
Ability to speak and understand French would be an asset
