Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for a Scale House Operator to join our operations out of Wolfville, NS.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be able to coordinate and efficiently expedite truck traffic through the scales. They will be able to operate point of sale (credit and debit) equipment as well as manage cash sales and ensure that invoicing and weigh slip requirements (accuracy and details) are met for both outside customers and internal jobs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Efficiently weigh customers in and out of the facility
Accurately prepare invoices (listing materials, customer account information and location)
Front line work with customers (cash, debit, credit)
Answer questions on material disposal costs
Provide direction to customers for in-yard drop off
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
A working knowledge of MS Office software, MS Word, Excel, and willingness to learn new programs
Strong initiative and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
Very enthusiastic and punctual
A proven attention to detail and problem solving
The ability to learn quickly and be adaptable to change
The ability to work well under pressure of deadlines
Ability to work Saturdays as necessary
Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
Willingness to work in a team environment
Comply with all safety policies and procedures
Working safely is a condition of employment
Must have a valid NS Drivers license
