Logistics and Yard Coordinator
Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on Logistics & Yard Operations Coordinator to support the daily operations of our busy lumber yard. This position combines logistics support, quality control, dispatch assistance, and yard operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working both in the office and outdoors, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while maintaining a high level of customer service and attention to detail.
Duties
- Assist with daily dispatch and delivery coordination.
- Support scheduling and communication with drivers and yard staff.
- Use computer systems to manage orders, deliveries, and operational information.
- Perform quality inspections on incoming and outgoing building materials.
- Verify that orders are accurate, complete, and meet company quality standards.
- Identify and report discrepancies or damaged products.
- Assist yard personnel with loading, unloading, organizing, and maintaining inventory as required.
- Support overall yard operations during busy periods.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with end-of-day procedures, including securing the yard and locking up the facility.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn company software.
- Ability to read, understand, and accurately complete work orders, shipping documents, and other operational paperwork.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of working in an active outdoor lumber yard environment, including lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to work overtime when operational requirements demand.
Preferred
- Previous dispatch or logistics experience.
- Experience in the building materials or lumber industry.
- Forklift experience or certification (an asset).
