Seeking skilled caregiver AND person who needs the accomodation of the live-in suite.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide attentive and personalized care for a senior gentleman with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in. This role involves offering comprehensive support to ensure safety, comfort, and quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, assisted living, or home health environments, and possess a genuine desire to assist individuals with disabilities. This is a full-time live-in position that requires a caring attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle various caregiving responsibilities with professionalism and empathy.
The intent is to hire a person who will reside in the brand new, dedicated, private suite, in the clients home. We DO NOT want to hire someone who has a home elsewhere and would be going back and forth. The ideal candidate will move into the clients home and the free rent for the suite will be part of the overall compensation package.
The candidate is welcome to be out of the home from 8 am until noon daily if they have school or another job to go to. The working hours can be modified to suite the requirements of school or a secondary paret time position. Currently the hope is to have this candiate doing active caregiving from noon until 5 pm and then again from 8-10 pm. The candidate will be able to sleep through the nights and only needed in emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily personal care including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medications accurately as prescribed and monitor health status
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment
- Support mobility and transfer needs, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Engage the senior in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Observe and report any changes in health or behavior to family members or healthcare professionals
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times within the home setting
- Assist with errands or appointments as needed, maintaining flexibility for scheduling
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home care, hospice care, or home caregiving preferred
- Knowledge of senior care practices including dementia care and working with individuals with disabilities
- Experience with medication administration and patient care procedures
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks safely
- Strong communication skills and compassionate demeanor
- Reliable, patient-focused, and attentive to detail
- Certification in caregiving or related training is a plus but not required
- Must be able to live in the client’s home full-time and provide consistent support

Part of the salary will include the free rent so we are looking for someone, like a student for example, who would benefit from the free rent in addition to the paid full time hours of care (40-44 hours paid care per week).
