This is a hands-on opportunity for a skilled toolmaker or machinist who takes pride in precision work, craftsmanship, and problem-solving.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting blow molds using manual machining, EDM, hand-fitting, and precision tooling techniques. You will work closely with Engineering and Production teams to ensure molds perform reliably and meet quality requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, CAD drawings, and GD&T requirements.
Perform manual machining operations including milling, turning, drilling, grinding, and occasional welding.
Operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, and other machine-shop equipment.
Fabricate and modify mold components to precise specifications.
Perform precision hand-fitting, surface grinding, polishing, and finishing to tight tolerances of approximately ±0.0005".
Assemble mold components and ensure proper fit, alignment, and functionality.
Tear down, inspect, repair, and maintain molds as required.
Diagnose mold performance issues and troubleshoot defects such as flash, short shots, and warpage.
Work with EDM and other precision tooling equipment as required.
Conduct quality checks on completed molds and components.
Support mold installation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
Contribute to 5S, preventative maintenance, and general toolroom organization.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, and other team members.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in mold making and toolroom machining.
Strong manual machining experience with mills, lathes, grinders, and hand tools.
Experience with precision bench work, mold fitting, repair, polishing, and finishing.
Experience working with blow molds is highly preferred.
Familiarity with blow mold components and mechanisms such as:
Neck rings
Pinch-offs
Cavity alignment
Cooling circuits
Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and GD&T.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently in a machine-shop/toolroom environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
