The Opportunity
The Garrison Curling Club (the “GCC”) is looking for a dependable and motivated Line Cook to join our Food & Beverage team for the upcoming curling season.
The GCC is a busy six-sheet curling facility and a welcoming gathering place for our members, league curlers and guests. Throughout the season, our kitchen supports regular league play along with bonspiels, tournaments, banquets, private functions and special events.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in developing their culinary skills and gaining practical kitchen experience while working alongside and learning from our Head Cook. Culinary students, developing cooks and applicants with previous kitchen experience are all encouraged to apply.

Position Overview
The Line Cook will work alongside our Head Cook to support daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, line service and event execution.
The role offers three consistent weekly shifts, with opportunities to pick up additional hours for weekend events, bonspiels, private functions and occasional staff coverage.
As part of a smaller kitchen team, reliability, organization and communication are important. This is a hands-on position and a great opportunity to gain experience across both regular restaurant-style service and larger club events.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to club recipes and standards
- Assist with daily food preparation, portioning and station setup
- Work alongside the Chef during regular service and event preparation
- Maintain a clean, organized and properly stocked workstation
- Follow proper food-handling, sanitation and food-safety procedures
- Assist with service for league play, bonspiels, tournaments, banquets, private functions and special events Assist with receiving, storage and proper rotation of food and kitchen supplies
- Complete assigned opening, closing and cleaning responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Head Cook and Food & Beverage team
- Communicate kitchen needs, shortages or operational concerns as required
Schedule & Commitment
The regular schedule for this position is:
- Tuesday: approximately 11:30am-8:00pm
- Thursday: approximately 4:00pm-10:00pm
- Friday: approximately 4:00pm-10:00pm
Additional hours may be available for weekend bonspiels, tournaments, banquets, private functions and special events
Opportunities may also be available to provide occasional coverage for vacation, illness or other scheduling needs
We are looking for someone who can reliably commit to the regular Tuesday, Thursday and Friday schedule throughout the curling season. Flexibility to pick up additional weekend or event shifts is considered an asset.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of previous kitchen or food-service experience preferred
- An interest in culinary and a willingness to learn and develop kitchen skills
- Culinary students and individuals beginning or developing their culinary careers are encouraged to apply Food Handling/Food Safety Certification is considered an asset
- First Aid Certification is considered an asset
- Dependable, punctual and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small kitchen team
- Organized and able to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Ability to follow recipes, portion standards and food-safety procedures
- Willingness to learn, take direction and contribute to a positive kitchen environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move food and kitchen supplies as required
