As a member of the Baseball Operations department, the Director of Baseball Operations & Head Coach will play a critical and integral role in the success of the Regina Red Sox. This position will work directly with the General Manager on a daily basis to develop and maintain a consistent and successful baseball team that challenges for a WCBL Championship each season, develops players, and produces an entertaining product on the field.
Duties & Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the General Manager, implement annual and multi-year plans relating to the Red Sox roster focusing on a consistently competitive team that challenges for a WCBL Championship each season as well as the development of players.
- Responsible for the annual recruitment of players and building the Red Sox player roster.
- Maintain and manage player database, including but not limited to player reports, depth charts, lists, player and family contact information and agent contact information.
- In conjunction with the General Manager, provide weekly reports regarding player recruitment, player development, roster status and player movement (March – September). In the off-season (October – February), provide monthly reporting regarding recruiting, baseball operations staff planning and roster outlook for the following season.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Regina Red Sox players, prospects and their families.
- Develop relationships with player agents and representatives.
- Develop game plans, tactics and strategies for on-field management, as well as team strategies and tactics for the season and for each specific opponent.
- Coordinate practice plans focused on team and individual development.
- Conduct post-game review and analysis of each game on a team and individual player level to improve team and individual play.
- Present individual teaching clips to players.
- Responsible for overseeing and guiding the performance of the Coaching Staff.
- Assist the General Manager with WCBL administrative tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for the management, inventory, and oversight of all team equipment including, but not limited to bats, player jerseys, pants and other related team equipment.
- Plan all team meals on the road, both pre-game and post-game.
- In conjunction with Finance department, manage the team credit card for all team related expenses and follow all policies and procedures related to credit card expenses reporting.
- Keep, maintain, and prepare effective and accurate records for Baseball Operations budget and accounting requirements.
- Ensure all players and Baseball Operations staff adhere to the Regina Red Sox Code of Conduct and comply with WCBL rules and regulations as amended from time to time.

Education and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years prior experience working as a Head Coach or Manager in the WCBL, Collegiate or at the professional level.
- Proficient in use of MS Office applications.
Other
- Extensive and regular travel required throughout Western Canada.
- The hours of work are irregular and vary; working these hours is required to successfully carry out this position.
