Early Childhood Educator
The successful candidate will work with other experienced Montessori educators in the role of co-teacher or assistant, depending on qualifications and experience. After an initial orientation and introduction to our school community, there may be opportunities to take on increased leadership responsibilities within the classroom or across programs as our school continues to grow.
Responsibilities
Duties will vary based on experience and credentials, and may include:
- Leading or supporting the daily operation of a Montessori classroom
- Managing the classroom environment and ensuring a calm, purposeful atmosphere
- Supporting children’s independence, concentration, and positive social interactions
- Contributing to record-keeping, documentation, and communication with families and colleagues
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
Skills Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
- Minimum one year experience
About Our School
We currently operate three Casa-level classrooms (ages 2.5–6 years), with class sizes of 16 and 24 students, and have an additional licensed classroom for 8 children that is not yet operating. Our school community values collaboration, professionalism, and a shared commitment to providing an authentic Montessori experience.

Requirements
- CPR & First Aid (Level C) certification
- Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
- Up-to-date immunizations (or valid exemption)
- Own transportation and valid driver’s license (no public transportation available from Ottawa to Russell)
