This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

We are searching for an innovative community development professional who will support and coordinate processes leading to strong neighborhoods where every tenant is connected to opportunities to succeed.
The Community Revitalization Assistant will work as part of the Revitalization team to plan and implement community development activities which support the Engagement, Community Economic and Social Development goals of the project.
What you'll do
Community Engagement and Development

Support the implementation of strategies and work plans to enable residents and a range of internal and external stakeholder participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of revitalization and renewal projects

Support and coordinate public consultations: community meetings, surveys, focus groups, individual interviews, outreach, lobby and street intercepts

Utilize communication tactics to advance outreach in the community including key messages, newsletters, flyers, and social media to maximize participation in engagement initiatives
-
Support implementation of initiatives to advance local employment strategies and link residents to existing and future economic development activities including training, employment, and educational opportunities
-
Coordinate processes that develop, implement, and evaluate community engagement strategies that advance the engagement, social development and economic development goals of the project
Supporting Partners or Partnership Development

Participate on agency and organization network tables to advance project goals such as employment and training, education, social cohesion, neighborhood integration and service delivery which meet community needs
-
Identify and advocate for engagement and program needs, including youth engagement strategies and activities
-
Support linkages with local employment partners such as agencies, local business and industrial associations, the private sector, key TCHC departments, and social enterprise organizations to provide a variety of economic opportunities for youth and under/ unemployed residents in TCHC communities
Administrative and Other Duties as Assigned

Assist project staff to provide day to day support for local animation teams, front line workers, and interns

Maintain documentation such as resident contact lists, sign in sheets, and data bases as required

Assist with the drafting of briefing notes, grant proposals, and project status updates

Other duties as assigned
What you'll need
-
1-3 years of community development experience working in affordable housing communities
-
Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or academic background working in a community based setting; experience in Toronto Community Housing communities is an asset

Demonstrated experience with community engagement and community development activities
-
Strong facilitation and communication skills
-
Proven experience developing and delivering presentations to various audiences
-
A broad range of community outreach experience
-
Experience in organizing, promoting and facilitating special events
-
Experience working with culturally diverse individuals
-
Demonstrated experience using MS Office Applications (powerpoint, excel, publisher, word)
-
Ability to support the implementation of community development and community engagement initiatives
-
Experience participating in the initiation and coordination of projects and programs
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Proven ability to foster positive working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including residents, community agencies, civic groups, city departments and TCHC staff

Ability to work as participating member within an integrated team

Able to work independently with minimum supervision and set work priorities as appropriate

Ability to work flexible and varied hours (some evenings and weekends is required) throughout the year
