Job description:
We are seeking a skilled Cabinet Finisher to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishes, stains, and protective coatings to wood products, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail with the ability to interpret blueprints and schematics. This role requires a strong understanding of woodworking processes, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with various tools and equipment. The Cabinet Finisher plays a vital part in delivering finished products that meet our quality standards and client expectations. Duties
- Apply stains, paints, varnishes, and sealants to wood surfaces using brushes, spray equipment, or hand tools.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and masking to ensure smooth finishes.
- Operate machinery such as sanders and spray booths safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools and power tools for detailed finishing work and touch-ups.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to adhere to safety standards.
- Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and defects before packaging or delivery.
- Collaborate with assembly and machining teams to ensure seamless workflow.
- Follow safety protocols related to the use of equipment forklifts and other manufacturing machinery.
Experience
- Mechanical knowledge of woodworking machinery and finishing techniques.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and spray finishing tools.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during finishing processes.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, wood working and finishing.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to interpret plans to ensure wood fixtures are accurate prior to completing finish.
- Education in cabinet making / paint finishing or a related woodworking trade is considered an asset.
