RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply a solid technical understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles within the midstream industry.
- Perform mechanical engineering activities for projects from concept through detailed design and execution.
- Prepare, review, and update mechanical engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation.
- Design and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
- Review engineering designs to ensure they meet applicable codes, standards, project requirements, and client specifications.
- Work closely with Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, and other disciplines to develop coordinated engineering solutions.
- Participate in project planning, technical reviews, design development, and problem-solving activities.
- Support the development and improvement of company mechanical engineering processes, standards, and design practices.
- Assist with technical troubleshooting and provide engineering recommendations to address project and field-related issues.
- Review vendor documentation, equipment specifications, and technical information as required.
- Support and mentor Junior Engineers and Designers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, regulations, and emerging technologies.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing engineering information.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable government regulations, company standards, and quality requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng. or eligible for registration. Registration with other Canadian engineering associations is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive experience working as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably within the midstream, oil and gas, or related industrial sector.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical engineering design and project execution.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Previous project engineering experience is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with engineering deliverables such as Process Basis of Design, Site Layouts, P&IDs, SLDs, Area Classifications, equipment specifications, and other project engineering documents is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with sulfur handling or related facilities is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet project deadlines, and work with minimal supervision while knowing when to seek guidance from senior team members.
