Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our online pharmacy team. This role involves supporting pharmacists in dispensing pets medications, ensuring smooth pharmacy dispensing operations.
Duties
Medication Preparation & Fulfillment
- Select, count, label, and prepare medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Package prescription and non-prescription products accurately for shipping.
- Perform quality checks to ensure the correct medication, strength, quantity, and shipping information are included with each order.
- Prepare shipping documentation and labels for courier pickup.
- Assist in meeting daily order fulfillment and shipping deadlines.
Inventory Management
- Assist with receiving and organizing medication inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock items.
- Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy workspace.
Customer & Veterinary Clinic Communication
- Communicate with veterinary clinics regarding prescription clarifications and refill requests when required.
- Provide customers with updates regarding prescription status and shipment tracking.
- Escalate medication-related inquiries to the pharmacist as appropriate.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate customer and prescription records.
- Assist with filing, data entry, and pharmacy documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, pharmacy procedures, and privacy requirements.
- Support other pharmacy operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy software system.
- Verify patient, pet, veterinarian, medication, dosage, quantity, and refill information.
- Identify and report discrepancies or incomplete information to the pharmacist for review.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper prescription records.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage inventory and documentation effectively
- Certification or training in pharmacy assistance or related fields is a plus
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
