Neighbourhood Better Living LTC, a 160-bed long-term care home in Belleville, Ontario is an exciting new project that will be dedicated to enriching the lives of our future residents in partnership with UniversalCare, our family members, valued employees and community partners. Residents are expecting to be admitted in June of 2026.
Reporting to the Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapist Assistant position is a critical role with overall accountability for providing physiotherapy services for our residents to maximize their overall mobility, function and well-being.
As part of our team, your role as a Physiotherapy Assistant contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:
- Assists the Physiotherapist in implementation of treatment plans for residents, including but not limited to gait training, balancing exercises, transfer training, range of motion activities and strengthening exercises.
- Applies modalities for residents in accordance with treatment plans, such as heat and ice therapy, ultrasound and use of TENS machine.
- Provides regular updates to Physiotherapist regarding material changes in residents’ mobility, function and well-being.
- Records daily treatments and maintains an organized system of records management for the Physiotherapist.
- Disinfects and sets up equipment for use in treatment of residents.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Need:
· A certification or current enrollment in an accredited PTA program.
· Must possess one (1) year related work experience, preferably in long-term care.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
· Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
· All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
